Minnedosa Ski Race – February 21, 2015

Despite a frigid -36 degrees Celsius in the morning, skiers braved the cold to participate in this year’s Ski Race at Minnedosa Ski Valley. Racers had a chance to ski two runs in the morning and two in the afternoon. With no wind, sunny blue skies and racers all bundled up, the racing conditions were fantastic. Eventually it warmed up to about -31 and skiers had no complaints about the cold. Racers representing Westman, Asessippi, La Riviere, Bottineau and Winnipeg Alpine Racers were in attendance.

The WAR females swept the U10 podium: Serena Kauffmann-Paul (Gold), Jewel Paskaruk (Silver) and Halyna Kruk (Bronze). Ewan Dalling captured Silver in the U10 Male category. Congratulations!

Fabulous racing by all of our WAR racers! It turned out to be a great racing day!

Thanks goes out to the Westman Ski Club for hosting a very well organized race and to all the wonderful volunteers who made the race proceed so smoothly! The club even set up a warming tent at the top of the hill to help keep our racers warm. Thank-you Westman Ski Club for your great hospitality!
