Welcome to the Winnipeg Alpine Racers

Founded in 1979, our Winnipeg ski club is a non-profit, volunteer based organization which operates under the guidelines of Manitoba Alpine Ski Division.

We are a fun, family oriented ski club in which members make friends, develop a passion for Alpine Skiing and Alpine Ski Racing.

Barclay Snowbyrd Race

March 2nd, 2013

Asessippi, Bottineau, La Riviere, Summit, Westman, and War ski teams competed in the annual Barclay Snowbyrd Race this past weekend. Awards were given for both female and male skiers in the various age categories. WAR athletes who went to the podium included Serena Kauffmann-Paul (gold, female U8), Jewel Paskaruk (silver, female U8), Noah Cunningham (bronze, male U10), Mykola Kruk (bronze, male U12) and Amanda Ludlow (gold, female U14). Amanda also received the award for the best overall female skier that day. Congratulations to all of our WAR skiers who came out and participated in the race that day!

Snow Stars/Kombi Race Festival
U6 - U12
Bottineau Winter Park, North Dakota
February 9th -10th, 2013

Sixty-five skiers from Asessippi, Bottineau, La Riviere, Summit, War and Westman Ski Clubs attended the ski race in Bottineau, North Dakota. WAR saw 12 of its U6-U12 skiers racing. On Saturday, participants rotated through various Snow Stars Skills Stations with their teams. These included a speed trap and a new pole-jumping station that had skiers jumping over 10 poles. All participating skiers were excited to receive medals (gold, silver or bronze) for the pole-jumping competition. In the evening, skiers once again had the opportunity to participate in tubing, followed by dinner in the chalet. On Sunday all skiers competed in the race by completing two runs each. Congratulations to all of our skiers for some fantastic racing!

It was an awesome weekend! The weather was fabulous as it was a warm day with sunny skies and the frost on the trees looked amazing! Our thanks to our coaches Jon, Destiny and Dakota and everyone who helped out that weekend! Special thanks to the organizers who planned two fun-filled days for all of us!

Minnedosa Multi-Run Race

Minnedosa Ski Valley
February 9th -10th, 2013

January 26th was the date of Minnedosa's rescheduled race due to extreme cold temperatures on Jan. 19th. WAR had an extremely good turnout, with fifteen of its U6-U12 racers attending. Total attendance at this race was 57 from all of the 6 participating clubs. We had a great race in Minnedosa and our athletes all performed well with great results.
